Highland Perthshire has easy access to some of Scotland’s finest produce including pheasant, partridge, venison and Black-face lamb, all delivered straight from the hills. The Courtyard Restaurant is supplied by a nearby working estate at Glenlyon House, Fortingall, Aberfeldy. The estate rears Luing and Limousin beef herds; Texel lambs and wild venison. All the animals have access to the heathers and natural grasses found on the estate and are reared in a natural way.
Menu highlights on the delicious BACK TO BASICS menu include Local Perthshire rabbit loin with an apple and star anise purée, on bean cassoulet with game Jus; Grilled breast of Glen Lyon estate Pheasant on fondant potato with roasted butternut squash and honeyed parsnips with a juniper jus and Braised Perthshire lamb shank served in a rosemary scented broth with root vegetables topped with home made tomato oil and sweet potato crisps. Also when available, The Courtyard Restaurant offers The Courtyard Seafood platter of Hand dived by Billy Devine Arisaig oysters; Poached Langoustine and sautéed Arisaig Scallops served in shell with a vermouth sauce served with new potatoes and crisp salad.
The style is essentially Scottish with the emphasis on plain, quality food where the local flavours shine through and do the talking. You won’t find nouvelle cuisine here. A snack menu is also available daily from 12 noon – 5 pm featuring a mouthwatering selection of light bites, pizzas, and what we call ‘hungry nibbles’. We feature an all day breakfast menu, a delightful selection of home made patisserie from our bakery, and an extensive childrens’ menu.
And of course the barbecue, with a superb local variety of meats and poultry prepared over woods and coals in special recipe marinades from South Africa - a country where its barbecues are renowned.
